Another hitter with phenomenal raw power, whose development has not gone according to plan after being made a first round draft selection in 2003. Once considered the Cubs’ #3 prospect by BA (2005), Harvey has battled injuries, and struggled mightily at the plate. Still, does possess awesome raw power, rivalled only by Brian Dopriak in the Cubs system. Still considered the best power hitting prospect in the Cubs system by BA in 2007.
Poor patience, career .298 OBP between rookie and high A ball. Strikes out an absolute ton, will not take a walk.
Defensively gifted. Has the best outfield arm in the Cubs system, still rated as such by BA in 2007. A prototypical right fielder.
Batting stance and hitting mechanics
Stands tall in the box, upright hitter, long limbed, very long arms. Holds bat high at back shoulder. Keeps weight off the front foot, lifts front heel up as timing mechanism.
